The Beauly project is modelled on the nationwide Men’s Shed movement that is successfully spreading across Scotland. Operating under the umbrella of the Beauly & District Care Project, the aim is to provide opportunities for local men to get together on a weekly basis and pursue a wide variety of practical interests. There is a growing number of volunteers with expertise in woodworking, computing, building, d.i.y., etc. Membership very quickly risen to 30 with a regular 15 attending weekly meeting and there’s always room for more. We believe there are many benefits for the individuals taking part and for the community as a whole; the project helps to address issues of isolation, provides a venue for shared activity, regular social interaction and improves mental and physical wellbeing.
The old Shinty Club gymnasium (behind the Shinty Club building in Braeview Park) is the venue for the Men’s Shed. There is a kitted out workshop and a separate kitchen/tea room. Activities aren’t exclusively indoors – the Men’s Shed is also involved in a range of projects in and around the village.
The group meet each Friday between 10 and 12 and if you would like additional information please contact
